News; selfie 'near miss' stories; foods that used to be considered 'exotic' but now you can get all the time/anywhere; goodbye/fun facts....Spring is one week away...and March 12th is the day to participate in National Plant a Flower Day...dedicated to the planting of flowers and looking forward to the spring season. Flowers have changed the face of the earth, quite literally, ever since they made an appearance in the Cretaceous period over 145 million years ago. Thanks to insects and dinosaurs plowing their way across, flowers diversified rapidly. Across civilizations, flowers have retained certain myths and symbolism. Their fragility has come to represent everything from death to new life. Take a trip down to your neighborhood florist or farmers’ market. Take the opportunity to ask questions — which flowers are in season, how best to grow them.
