In Episode 9, State of Texas v. James Garfield Broadnax, Part 2, Lisa and Kyle were joined by Rick Rick Mullenax of the Burn After Reading podcast to wrap up their review of the case against Broadnax, who was convicted of the 2008 robbery and murder of Stephen Swan, who was killed with his friend Matthew Butler in the parking lot of Butler’s recording studio in Garland, Texas. In interviews with local media after his arrest, Broadnax confessed to shooting and killing Stephen and Matthew. In Part 2, we looked at Broadnax’s subsequent state post-conviction claims, including the false claims made by Cummings ahead of Broadnax’s execution on April 30, 2026.
