Send us a text“The GEAR that I like is… ALL OF IT!” – Tommy HardenSince the early ’90s, Nashville drummer Tommy Harden has been laying down grooves with everyone from Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers to Ricky Skaggs, Reba McEntire, and now Alabama. He joins Chicks With Gear and resident gear head Andy Most to talk road life, session stories, and why he’s never met a piece of gear he didn’t love. This week on Chicks With Gear, we hang with Tommy Harden — one of Nashville’s most in-demand drummers, producers, and songwriters.Tommy came to Nashville in the early ’90s, and within four months landed his first big gig with Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers. Soon after, he hit the road with Ricky Skaggs, playing in the coveted Kentucky Thunder band. From there, his career exploded — nearly 20 years touring with Reba McEntire, and now out on the road with Alabama.In between tours, Tommy has played on thousands of sessions for artists like Alan Jackson, Lee Brice, Blake Shelton, Justin Moore, Jon Pardi, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Mathis, Faith Hill, Big & Rich, Uncle Kracker, Sisters Wade Revival & Andy Most and many more! He’s performed on The Tonight Show, Letterman, Oprah, The Voice, and even at the White House and Kennedy Center. You can also spot him in the film Muscle Shoals, playing with Rick Hall and Candi Staton.
