Episode 2
Sunday, 9 February, 2025
"Inside Shift" is a bonus episode series recorded at Space Group's annual _Shift conference. The conference brings together industry leaders and "empowered agents of change" to discuss strategies for decarbonising the built environment. I was lucky enough to interview all of the speakers and panellists at this year's conference. In this episode, I interview Emily Penn, Emily is an ocean advocate, skipper, impassioned expert on plastic pollution and founder of eXXpedition. She graduated from Cambridge with a degree in Architecture and a job offer in Australia, but, after rounding the globe on the record-breaking biofuelled boat Earthrace, her life changed forever. For 15 years she’s been at the helm of change: putting the plastics issue on the map, shaping the conversation and catalysing action. Her unique combination of science, activism, and adventure has made her a key figure in environmental advocacy. To hear more about Space Group's annual _Shift conference: https://www.spacegroup.co.uk/shiftTo watch Emily's keynote presentation: https://www.spacegroup.co.uk/shift/speakers/emily-pennEmily's website: https://www.emilypenn.com/
