The furniture of midcentury craftsman Sam Maloof (1916-2009) and the art made by 35 members of his circle of friends are explored in a groundbreaking exhibition at The Huntington. The House That Sam Built: Sam Maloof and Art in the Pomona Valley, 1945-1985 includes commentary by seven artists including Sam Maloof and six of his contemporaries. Narration provided by Hal Nelson, Curator of American Decorative Arts at The Huntington. Sam Maloof was recorded by Peter Kirby circa 1995. Betty Davenport Ford was recorded by the American Museum of Ceramic Art in February, 2011. All other audio was recorded by Alison Glazier for The Huntington in 2011.
