On #ConnectingBorders, we are discussing Understanding Identity: Lessons from the Region with Yar Telar and Dave Boboto. Due to the conflicts that South Sudan has been through (as part of Sudan and independently as well), many citizens were forced to move out of the country and seek refuge in other countries, in which many ended up moving to neighbouring countries and others were resettled abroad. An Independent South Sudan is here and many people are coming back; which comes with its different factors. Within the region itself, we have young people who grew up in Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. This has created a "social cold war" because of the different cultures, backgrounds and environments that people are coming with, which has ended up clashing finding the identity here. In this conversation, we are trying to understand identities and how we can take the lessons that we learned in these countries to build a strong and united South Sudan.
