Madam C.J. Walker (1867–1919), born Sarah Breedlove, was a pioneering African American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and activist recognized as the first female self-made millionaire in the U.S.. She built a beauty empire with her "Walker system" of hair care products for Black women, employing thousands of sales agents.
