We will explore our common threads, the roots of our attachment to this place, and how we gather. My hope is to create a space where local voices are heard, acknowledged, and asked for. Rachel Vasak -- Community Beyond Humanity

This episode is a flashback to a timeline that almost feels like another life. When I sat down with Rachel Vasak from the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association, it was summer 2021. The world has changed so much since then, the way we interact with each other and how we expect those around us to care for our personal pockets of communities. Rachel and I talked about building communities around work parties and how the pandemic had altered NSEA's work. It's a short but sweet and inspirational discussion around how even while the world feels like it is falling apart, there are so many ways we can keep our hope present and continue to care for this land and each other. We recorded on NSEA's campus, at a picnic table tucked at the roots of happy Douglas Firs and red cedars.
