DJ Hariford: "I was raised in a christian family. I have always known God and was aware of his presence in my life. Somehow I could never land a job in full time ministry, so I have spent most of my spare time in volunteer ministry since 1987, in addition to my secular employment. Those activities/ministries included; Drama, puppets, teen ministry, praise and worship band, and small group leader. During most of those years I was also writing for a prison ministry that began as "River of life" but ultimately became "Prospecting in the Word." I wrote an article which I called "DJisms". It was my personal mission to help our recent christian readers understand these new Christianese words and terms, as well as challenge a more mature christian to look at a word they know in a different way. My greatest delight is getting a response of "I never thought about it like that before!" A few years ago God told me to write a book. I had no plans to write one. In following His lead, I compiled a list of my top articles for the last many years based on survey results. The result is an encouraging book filled with some very revealing stories from my life as they were the inspiration for my articles. "The First Book of Isms" is raw, honest and human.
