Unexpecting: A Chana Podcast

Author: Chana

Welcome to Unexpecting - a podcast brought to you by Chana, the leading fertility support organisation for the Jewish community in the UK. Over the course of this podcast we join Dr Romy Shulman, Shimon Schwab and Dr Veronique Berman as they speak to experts, couples, and religious leaders about the multi-layered challenges people face on their fertility journey.1 in 6 couples experience infertility. Whether you are trying to conceive, wondering where to start, going through treatment, coming to terms with the loss of a pregnancy, or simply have a question to ask and need support. Chana is here for you. We know everybody's experience is different, so we provide a bespoke package of services tailored to your individual needs. With Chana you are not alone. We are also excited to be launching Your Stories on our website, inspired after Dan Rickman approached Chana with the seedling of an idea based on his experience in 2020 when his wife suffered a miscarriage during the height of covid. We are proud to launch this valuable resource on the Chana website in the hope that Chana can also help to break down stigmas which still surround miscarriage, fertility issues and complex paths to parenthood.   Hosted on Acast. The Silence After Stillbirth and What It Means to Be Heard
Tuesday, 5 August, 2025

Stillbirth is so often met with silence, leaving couples to carry their grief alone. In this moving conversation with Chana Support Worker and Psychotherapist Nechoma Schwab, a Chana client shares her story; from hearing there was no heartbeat, to giving birth, to facing a heartbreak no one prepared her for.She speaks openly about the silence that followed her loss: giving birth with no preparation, the absence of a baby to hold, and the lack of acknowledgement for what she had been through.Together, they explore the physical and emotional pain that followed, the guilt, the blame, the fear in future pregnancies, and the loneliness of grieving in different ways. Most of all, they talk about what it means to have your experience acknowledged and how, for her, being heard and supported made all the difference. This episode is about the stories too often left untold and why it matters that we listen. If you are struggling on your fertility journey, head over to https://www.chana.org.uk/ and get in touch with one of our experts. If you enjoyed listening, please subscribe, rate, review and share on social media. We really hope you'll join us again soon. With Chana you are not alone. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
