Case Consult w/ Dr. Leila Ellis-Nelson
Episode 13
Thursday, 1 July, 2021
Hey yall! It's been a minute! I don't know about you, but this summer has been full of change and adjustments that have affected our ability to get episodes out to you in a timely and consistent manner. But you know what? That's okay! We've been practicing some self-care and boundary setting that has taken precedence over releasing on our desired schedule. That said, we gone try to be better. AND the icing on the cake is that we'll occasionally be releasing episodes called "Case Consults" to explore what it's like for PoC professionals in this field doing THE work. This first case consult is with my dear friend and sister in the ministry (lol), Dr. Leila Ellis-Nelson. Listen to us talk about the amazing work that she's doing in this field to bring equity and inclusion into all of the diversity efforts sought out by the organizations she works with. Leila unpacks the limitations of the DSM in a way that is both enlightening and frustrating, but so necessary to further understanding the mental health field. I'm excited for yall to learn something because EVERY single time this woman opens her mouth, you can't help but be impacted by her knowledge and ability to communicate it in ways that we can ALL benefit from and understand. Make sure those earbuds are charged tf up, because you can't afford to miss this sermon <3 Leila's Plugs (mentioned in episode): IGs: https://instagram.com/leilaellisnelsonpsyd (personal) https://instagram.com/changing.perspectives https://instagram.com/justathought_el https://instagram.com/igotupegged Twitters: https://twitter.com/drellisnelson (personal) https://twitter.com/ChiPerspective https://twitter.com/igotupegged Podcasts: https://anchor.fm/just-a-thought-el https://anchor.fm/peggy-hill1 Website: http://www.changing-perspectives.org https://www.meetup.com/Coffee-Hour-Chicago/ Are you a person of color?
