034 : Final Episode? New Show?
Episode 34
Monday, 7 April, 2025
This may possibly be the final episode of the podcast, but I also announce the launch of my fishing YouTube channel, The Near Fish Experience. Here’s the transcription: Hello there and welcome to episode 34 of the Maritime Outdoors Podcast. I'm Dave Doggett, and I know it's been almost a year since I released the last episode, and I was very optimistic in that episode talking about a new outdoor community for the Maritimes, like an online directory. The reality is, my time has been taken elsewhere, and as of right now, this episode that you're listening to could very well be the final episode of the Maritime Outdoors Podcast. I'm not gonna say for certain, but there's a very good chance I've just had more time to sit back and reflect on what it would take for effort. Financially, mentally, and to make that happen and to maintain this podcast and, return on investment is obviously very important. And at this present time, I just don't feel that there is a. Potential for a return on investment in the time and effort and money that I it would take to create that community and keep producing quality episodes of this podcast. What I am going to announce is I am broadening my horizon, so to speak. I am focused on creating a YouTube channel. Called Near Fish Experience and it's just youtube.com/at symbol near fish experience altogether. But it's not going to just focus on the Maritimes and the angling and the outdoor opportunities here. It's going to be specifically angling based, obviously in the name it's going to. Obviously I'm going to be, doing my adventures primarily in the Maritimes, but I'm going to be creating content that will hopefully relate to people all over the world in similar fishing environments. It's going to be. A more regular Purdue show probably multiple episodes per week. That's my goal, and I'm going to feature, video footage. I've made a commitment this year to myself that I'm going to try and make at least one cast or more, hopefully a lot more every single day of the season, and that's something I have never committed to before. But I think it's realistic. I live near a bunch of different waterways and I think it's possible. Obviously I'm not going to catch fish every time I go. I might only have five minutes just inside town here where I live. But I'm going to also work on longer feature. Productions multi-day adventures, and so the bulk of the channel's going to be short. Little tidbits maybe actually YouTube shorts, I'm not sure yet. And then I will also have some feature productions mixed in there as well. That's my goal for this season. But I'm just, I, I feel like I need to reach out beyond the Maritimes itself and give that a solid effort throughout this season. So if you've been a listener to the show over the years, I appreciate that greatly. It hasn't been a large audience, but it's been, a dedicated one. I started this, I think back in 2011, 2012. And anyway, so that is. Where we're headed. I don't even know if I'm going to keep the website online for this podcast, but you will still be able to listen to it through any major podcast network. And go back through the old episodes as well. So that's it for right now. If you want to reach me you can go to just my personal website, which is DaveDoggett.com. And that's just basically a personal portal where you can, find out about myself, the other podcasts that I have helped produce over the years. I'm a licensed Nova Scotia fishing guide, so I have information on there as well. So if you're looking for a fishing adventure and you happen to be in. My part of the province, which is South shore area, south of Halifax, along the coast. Let me know and I'd be happy to connect and see if we can get out together. But yeah, that's about it for now. I. I do appreciate you listening over the years and definitely check out near Phish experience on YouTube. I'm setting it up as a podcast. There will be a lot of visual representation, but...
