Destroy Our Parks with Gabriel Omassi and Alex Leonard
Thursday, 6 August, 2026
For the final episode (for now), Amer Rez returns to Jarry Park with longtime friend and original podcast collaborator Gabriel Omassi, before comedian Alex Leonard joins them later in the conversation.Recorded in the same park where an early version of the podcast first took shape, the episode has a loose, full-circle feel as Amarez and Gabriel catch up on everything that has changed since Gabriel moved to the UK. Gabriel talks about unexpectedly finding purpose as a college teacher, helping struggling students reach the finish line, and learning how much freedom and creativity can exist inside a job he never originally planned to pursue. The conversation moves through AI in education, ChatGPT, creative work, health, weight loss, married life, emotional eating, homemade Indian food, water parks, British culture, and Gabriel’s complicated relationship with stand-up comedy. They also reflect on the early years of Montreal comedy, the excitement of performing when nothing mattered, and what happens when a creative obsession slowly becomes a career. With Alex Leonard joining the chaos later on, the episode becomes the kind of unpredictable, funny, and honest conversation that only happens between people who have known each other for years. It is part reunion, part comedy discussion, and part argument about everything from teaching and technology to food, relationships, and whether adulthood is actually making anyone wiser.A fittingly unfiltered way to close out the podcast. (For now!)
