Welcome to the first episode of The Accidental Manager Podcast, on todays show we have Brooke Roberts. Brooke is a Founder, Executive Director and Co-CEO of Sharesies, an online investment platform that gives someone with $5 the same investment opportunities as someone with 500,000. Sharesies has a mission to financially empower a new generation of investors. As of October 2020, the platform has more than 225,000 customers and over $700m invested after launching 3 years ago. Brooke studied Commerce and Marketing culminating in a Masters of Finance. She first landed a role as a marketing assistant for not-for-profit organisation GS1 and went on to finance, product, and marketing roles at AJ Park, Kiwibank, and Xero before founding Sharesies. In this episode we delve into the role of a manager and diversity, maintaining work/life balance, finding a mentor, building culture at a hypergrowth company and much more!
