The Language of Miscarriage
Episode 42
Tuesday, 15 October, 2024

It is so easy to feel like a failure when you experience a pregnancy loss. You feel like you failed to carry a baby. Your body didn't show up for the job and there has to be a reason or a "thing to be fixed" in order to prevent it in the future. You aren't a failure. Your body didn't fail. There can be physical, emotional and spiritual reasons that the spirit didn't incarnate at this moment. In this week's episode I reflect on the terminology we use around pregnancy loss and how it sets a tone for how women internalize the experience. If you have experienced a loss, this may be triggering or it may feel like validation and a salve for a wound. I know that this topic is a tender one for me, but so many suffer in isolation feeling alone with their feelings and experience that it is important for healing at all levels to have safe spaces to acknowledge everything that is being felt.
