SOUTHEAST TEXAS: THE REST OF SEPTEMBER

Summer isn’t giving up just yet. The climate signal for the remainder of September favors above-normal temperatures across Southeast Texas, with plenty of heat and humidity likely to continue. A few days may feel noticeably more comfortable, but a sustained fall-like cooldown is not the dominant signal yet. Rain chances: More uncertain. Expect the usual late-summer pattern of hit-or-miss showers and thunderstorms, with the potential for locally heavy downpours. Tropical disturbances can quickly change the rainfall picture along the Upper Texas Coast, so a quiet stretch can be followed by a very wet day. Temperature trend: Generally warmer than normal, especially during the afternoon. Overnight temperatures should gradually ease as September progresses, but muggy mornings and warm afternoons will remain common. Fall transition: Don’t put away the summer gear just yet. A stronger cold front eventually becomes more likely as we move toward October, but the timing of that first meaningful cooldown is difficult to pin down this far out. Tropical watch: September remains an important part of the Atlantic hurricane season. Stay weather-aware and keep hurricane preparedness plans in place.
