The Demented Scribbler - Conquering the Creative GapAuthor: David Gravel
The Demented Scribbler is a freelance writer and author. The podcast aims to help those aspiring writers and creatives out there who like me sometimes get writers block or find themselves on the edge of that creative gap. All of the work on the podcast is my original work and I welcome feedback and constructive critique to help me become a better writer and to build a writers community through The Demented Scribbler podcast. I encourage you to comment and also to send me your original writing (no more than 500 words) and I will read this out on one of the episodes. Thank you for listening. The Mental Health Gap Year
Episode 2
Thursday, 22 April, 2021
Hello Listeners. How has the last year affected your creative appetite and has it affected your mental health? The Demented Scribbler is a writers blog with original work, a regional voice and discussions on the writing process. This is episode 2 of 'The Creative Gap Year' by The Demented Scribbler. This podcast discusses suicide and mental health issues and contains expletives, so please be aware of that before you listen. In this episode, I present a 500-word story called 'Spring' about a man who's stood precariously on a motorway bridge. Part 1 starts at 3 minutes. 'Spring' is a short story written by David Gravel on the theme of 'The Mental Health Gap Year.' Part 2 starts at 8 minutes and 50 seconds and is a piece by a fellow creative writing student David Greenwood. David wrote this in response to my first podcast 'The Creative Gap Year.' I read out David's piece and discuss it. Part 3 starts at 19 minutes and 30 seconds and is a discussion on how to write a setting. There are some practical tips regarding how to effectively introduce location into your story. There is a small discussion and listener comments after part 3 regarding the Mental Health Gap. If you have been affected by anything discussed in these episodes please look on https://www.prevent-suicide.org.uk/find-help-now/ Thank You for listening and please feel free to look on my WordPress blog https://thedementedscribblercom.wordpress.com Regards David
