Setelah menerima wahyu, Rasulullah pulang ke rumah dengan ketakutan. Setibanya di rumah, Nabi Muhammad meminta sang istri, Khadijah untuk menyelimutinya. Khadijah dengan cepat  melaksanakan permintaan itu dan bertanya mengapa Rasulullah terlihat  sangat ketakutan. Khadijah lalu menenangkan Rasulullah. Dia sudah tahu  bahwa Muhammad merupakan orang pilihan Allah yang akan diangkat menjadi  Nabi. Setelah itu, Nabi Muhammad tak lagi diberikan wahyu atau dikenal dengan masa fatrah. Baru setelah 40 hari, turun wahyu kedua.
