Inaburra Founders Lecture 2026: Different by Design – Understanding and Embracing Neurodiversity and Disability in Educational Communities
Tuesday, 20 October, 2026
Join our Leader of Innovation and Research, Lyndal Tait, guest speaker, Dr. Louise Gosbell, and an expert panel – Vanessa Culbert, Kathryn Martens and Tim Perkins - for the 2026 Inaburra Founders Lecture, "Different By Design: Understanding and Embracing Neurodiversity and Disability in Educational Communities." In this episode, Dr. Louise Gosbell, a researcher, author, and speaker specialising in disability theology, explores the shift from medical and charity models of disability toward the social model and Deborah Beth Creamer's "limits model." Grounded in both scholarship and lived experience, Dr. Gosbell challenges traditional ‘deficit’ and ‘superpower’ narratives, proposing that human limits, dependence, and neurodiversity are not necessarily flaws to be fixed, but part of the human experience that are made meaningful by understanding our significance and relationality as divine image bearers. Together, the panel discusses how educational settings can move past simple accommodations to build communities centered on genuine embrace of difference and cultures of interdependence.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
