Discussions in some Western media and policy circles have promoted the idea of a so-called "China squeeze," arguing that China's manufacturing strength is limiting industrialization opportunities for developing economies. Is the "China squeeze" a recycled version of the "China threat?" Does the West really worry about the Global South, or is this another zero-sum approach aimed at containing China's rise?
