The In-Between Project

The In-Between Project

Author: Noa Richard

The In-Between Project explores the stories of those who don't feel completely at home in their cultures, races, language, heritages or selves. To be in-between means to embrace the multiplicity and contradictions of ones identity. To exist between homelands, both literal and metaphorical. Join us as we explore what a future looks like with more people who are neither nor, who belong in the in-between.

Parenthood, Philosophy and Multiracial Families w/Dr. Erica Preston-Roedder
Episode 6
Tuesday, 20 July, 2021

In the season's last episode, I welcome Dr. Erica Preston-Roedder, philosophy professor at Occidental College. Dr. Preston-Roedder specializes in applied ethics and the philosophy of race/gender, public philosophy, and philosophy of psychology. But on today's episode she brings her current research to the table: multiracial identity formation and family dynamics. In addition to the theory and philosophy, Dr. Preston-Roedder can also pull from her experience as a parent in a multiracial household. We discuss the evolution of multiracial identity, what it means to be a white parent to multiracial black children, and the future for families like hers. Check out more about Dr. Erica Preston-Roedder in link below:https://www.oxy.edu/academics/faculty/erica-preston-roedderQuestion? Comment? Message @in.betweenproject on instagram
