That sounds like bad news, but I believe it's the best news you'll hear all week, because if you're part of the problem, you can also be part of the fix. In this first episode of our cognitive distortions series, I'm looking at all or nothing thinking, also called black and white thinking. It's the habit of seeing a situation as either perfect or a total failure, with no middle ground. We'll look at where it comes from, why our minds default to it, and how it keeps us stuck. We'll cover: What all or nothing thinking is, and the DSM-5 view of it The "one cookie" trap and how a simple test can break it The double standard method: what would you tell a friend? Perfectionism, splitting, and why our brains choose speed over accuracy The words that signal black and white thinking: always, never, should, shouldn't How chronic stress keeps this pattern running What the Bible says about perfection, grace, and God's view of the heart This is the first of roughly 10 to 14 cognitive distortions we'll cover, one per episode, over the next few months. Watch for the next one, and take a look at which ones show up in your own life. 📚 Resources & Links: Free Trilogy + Healing Codes: https://www.dralexanderloyd.com/free Website: https://www.dralexanderloyd.com Instagram: @dralexanderloyd YouTube: Dr. Alexander Loyd 🎙️ Podcast Schedule: Live every 2nd, 3rd & 4th Wednesday at 1 PM Central 📺 Can't Join Live?
