None of her previous six children were legally in her custody, although at least some of them had been illegally staying with Stacey and her partner, Sean Buttery, for about a month when, on August 16, 2019, a 911 call summoned first responders to the family's home in Dayton, Kentucky, on a report of a child not breathing.
