Stonedale Women’s Project was started by three inspirational women in Croxeth, Liverpool just over three years ago. It’s an area where there are little or no facilities for recreation for young and older people. Friends Bernie Russell, Michelle Foran and Kellie Quine decided to take matters into their own hands and help their community by doing something different and brilliant – which brought about the birth of ‘Billy Fun Bus’. Two double-decker buses now sit in the heart of their community and provide a safe place for young and older peoples to socialise, play and befriend others in their community. The project has inspired the community and brought them together, it has even led one young man on a new journey in life. We hear from Bernie Russell, project lead on how it all got started and volunteer, Elliott on how inspired he has been by these women who took the lead in their community.
