Don't Close Your Eyes: Live Radio Theatre!

New old-time analog radio theatre, presented and recorded live!

Author: Ryan Cassavaugh and Keith Suta

Don't Close Your Eyes is Montana's longest-running and most-popular live radio theatre presentation! Each week during the summer, writer/directors Ryan Cassavaugh and Keith Suta take turns writing and presenting a brand-new one-hour play in a variety of genres from the golden age of radio! Since 2011, DCYE has produced weekly radio plays all summer long at Bozeman's Verge Theater! Each new play is written in just one week previous in order to recreate the vibrant energy and demands of live radio! The genres are as wide-ranging as the schedule is tight: sci-fi, comedy, western, thriller, comedy, and more! Presented live on stage with multi-voiced casts and entirely analog sound effects, DCYE is a unique and original anthology production that the whole family can enjoy! Gerda von Misery Vs. Apocalpyse Inc.!
Monday, 13 September, 2021

Season 6.5, Episode 2: "Gerda von Misery Vs. Apocalypse Inc.!'" A Supervillainous Comedy Written and Directed by Keith Suta! Gerda von Misery's first day on the job at the elite villain organiztion, Apocalypse Inc., has not gone well. Attempting to take over the company before she even underwent orientation, she finds herself ousted by the head of Apocalypse Inc., The Authoritarian, who has used her mind-reading powers to discover Dr. von Misery's greatest fear (it's public speaking)! But the evils of Apocalypse, Inc., don't end there -- they want to destroy the world; which would make Gerda von Misery's quest for world domination pretty impossible... Now, with her lab repossessed and no job options, she must reunite with her loyal hunchman-- I mean, henchman, Seymour to bring the retired superhero Captain Overman out of retirement and fight evil WITH evil! Featuring: Cate Ludin as Gerda von Misery; Sarah Suta as Clump, the Robot, and The Authoritarian; Harry Jahnke as Seymour Swerdlow and C'p'n Chick O'Ree; Pol Llovet as Captain Overman and Agent Doldrum; and Keith Suta as Narciso, Tectonicus, the Boss, and Mr. Announcer! Live sound effects by Kyle Suta and Liam Mayer! Original music composed and performed by Garrett Robinson! Recorded live at Bozeman, Montana's historic Ellen Theatre on October 8, 2016! We apologize for the less-than stellar audio quality of this particular episode -- though not up to our usual standards, we wanted you to be able to experience this once-in-a-lifetime performance and hope that it will prove diverting and entertaining despite its technical limitations!
