「瓜瓜人類學」AI、基因與人類學 Gwaa Gua Anthropology: AI, Genes, and Anthropology
Episode 8
Friday, 2 January, 2026

Misa, Ursula
(本集以廣東話進行)In recent years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has developed rapidly, profoundly influencing human life and our imagination of the future. The application of AI in scientific research is becoming increasingly widespread. How will this shape the direction of scientific development, and how might it change our understanding of ourselves? In this episode, we invite Dr. TAM Man Kei, Adjunct Assistant Professor from our department to explore the relationship between AI, biotechnologies, and natural ecology from an anthropological perspective. He will also share his views on Hong Kong scientists’ research on the gut microbiome, examining the complexities among humans, technology, and the environment. This episode will focus on his participation in the ethnographic research project “HealthXCross,” which investigates and compares how scientists in different regions analyze microbes and attempts to conceptualize microbes as material entities that link humans and their environment.Hosts: Misa, Ursula (This episode is conductedin Cantonese.)11’44 腸道微生物相等於人體的第二個大腦 Gutmicrobes equate to the second brain of humans16’17 人工智能在腸道微生物研究中的運用 Theutilization of AI in Gut microbes research 21’17 腸道微生物研究、能源與環境的議題 Gutmicrobes research, energy, and environment23’50 研究數據與殖民邏輯再現 Researchdata and the reproduction of colonial logic 25’30 科學是客觀中立的嗎?Is science value-free and neutral?29’10 核能發展倫理道德問題 The ethical problems of the development of nuclear power 32’56 人工智能在科學發展上的倫理道德問題 Theethical issues of AI in the development of science39’25 權力轉向:由以「疾病為中心」轉至以「健康為中心」的醫療政策制定 Power Shift: From “Disease-Centered” to “Health-Centered” Healthcare Policy Making41’50 人類學在現代社會的價值 The values of Anthropology in the contemporary worldCredit:Sound effect by ZapSplatOpening and Closing Music “Paradise Found” Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com).
