Those sad due to loss or loneliness, the happy family re-encuentros (the reunions), and the ones that escaped us as we tried to adapt to new temperatures, a language, and culture. In the early days of our exile, if we were lucky, there would be a bodega within walking distance, but many only had American grocery stores nearby. ……………..
