Motivational Biology: Rethinking Health Through an ADHD Lens
Thursday, 14 August, 2025
Welcome back to the Refuel Your Fire podcast, it’s been a long while since my last post and there’s a lot I’ve been thinking about. With my recent nutrition certification I’m keen to take this podcast and the insights shared on the show to the next level and with my recent ADHD diagnosis I’m also thinking more about health and motivation through a neurodivergent-friendly lens.Today’s podcast episode is a meandering one where we’ll discuss Motivational Biology, a term I recently began to use to describe motivation from this perspective. I’ve also created a short video walk-through on the difference between the traditional view of motivation and motivational biology which you can watch here. We’ll also talk about the problem with images of “healthiness” that are portrayed in the media and on social media by so-called “health experts” and the problems these ideals can create for many of us when it comes to setting health and wellbeing goals.I’ll also give you 4 actionable steps you can take to start to redefine what healthy is on your own terms. I hope this episode helps to Refuel Your Fire, and look forward to sharing more with you all soon :) This is a public episode.
