The Diabetes VaultWelcome to The Diabetes Vault. Author: Andrew Wilson and Dr Matthew Campbell
Welcome to The Diabetes Vault. Research into diabetes has been behind closed doors; locked away to those of us living with it. The purpose of this podcast is to bring the research out into the mainstream, present it and help us to understand it. The aim is to open it up and in the process align what's being done in the research world with what it's like for us living our lives at the cold face dealing with challenges of diabetes. Join me Andrew Wilson and my co-host Dr Matthew Campbell to explore the vault. Episode 5 - Exercise and Blood Sugar Control (part 2)
Episode 5
Sunday, 3 April, 2022
In this episode Dr Matthew Campbell and I are joined by Dr Jane Yardley whose area of diabetes expertise is exercise physiology, we are also joined by Daria Arofikina (aka @daria.arof on IG) the host of the What Type1's Eat podcast; a fellow Type 1 who's recently graduated with a masters in nutrition. Exercising and managing blood sugar control can be a battle to say the least! In this episode we discuss a research paper that Dr Jane Yardley wrote looking at the effect on blood sugars of high intensity exercising when done in a fasted state (first thing in the morning) in comparison to exercising in a fed state (in the afternoon). If you struggle to prevent hypoglycemia when exercising this is a must listen to. The link to the paper is: https://bit.ly/JYardleyEp5 We hope you enjoy this.
