馬祖最受歡迎的家常菜是糖醋里肌、使用醬油、白醋和糖提味。過去戰時的馬祖有多家米醋廠,馬祖人善用白醋抑制海鮮的腥味,又能刺激味蕾。馬祖至今維持閩東文化,依歲時節氣酬神祭祖: 年節「供歲飯」、元宵「擺暝」鼓板聲、清明後「補黃魚」、端午後「補庫」、重陽掛「九皇燈」…四時節慶輪迴安意靜好的歲月。
