In this episode, Joey has the privilege and honor of being joined by Arthur Lynch, former University of Georgia star tight end and NFL alum. Lynch played high school football in Massachusetts at Dartmouth High School, where he was a four-star tight end and a top 100 recruit in the country, before committing to play at Georgia. Lynch was a multi-year starter, a captain for the Bulldogs as a senior, and was a First-Team All-SEC selection in 2013. Following that, he was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft and played three years in the NFL. Since retiring from the NFL in 2016, Lynch served as an officer in the United States Army, ran the New York City Marathon in 2021, and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Cornell University.At the start of the episode, Lynch discussed how much of an honor it was to have his jersey number retired by Dartmouth High School and the impact his late grandfather Carlin Lynch had on his love for sports (2:04). Lynch revealed the reasoning behind his decision to decommit from Boston College and the thrill of National Signing Day in 2009 (8:30). Following that, he revealed what made Georgia stand out among other programs of interest, such as Penn State and Florida (14:15), and what his transition was like to Athens on and off the field (20:10). Lynch reflected on redshirting his sophomore year in 2010 and how it prepared him for future success (25:15). Additionally, he talked about how his friendship with his former quarterback Aaron Murray led to success on the field (28:10) and his 16-yard completion from a fake punt in the 2012 SEC Championship game (33:45).Then, Lynch pointed out what the biggest factor was behind being a First-Team All-SEC selection as a senior in 2013 (40:44) and shared a story to illustrate how strong of a leader that his former head coach Mark Richt was (48:14). Next, he described how gratifying it was to be selected by the Dolphins (59:05) and why he chose to join the United States military following retirement (1:09:14). In the last segment, they transitioned to recapping the upsets of the Week 8 slate of the College Football season (1:15:37). At the end, Lynch provided his thoughts on Georgia’s upset loss to Auburn University last week (1:24:46) and what the Bulldogs need to do to improve (1:28:35).
