He completed residencies in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and plastic surgery at Johns Hopkins, followed by a craniofacial surgery fellowship at Seattle Children's. He has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and numerous textbook chapters, and serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
