Get BetterAuthor: Elstro Production [Podcast, Music, Audio Post]
Get Better is a podcast by Josh Elstro (AKA Carls Manager), featuring conversations with independently creative people exploring how and why they do what they do in a world and culture that often works to convince us our primary value is the labor we do for an employer. The show digs deep into what jump starts peoples independent creative processes and how they stay motivated to follow through. Each episode features a one on one conversation with people whose personal creative endeavors have placed them at all different levels on the ladder of social or financial success in their field, niche, or hobby. As creatives we have just as much to learn talking to someone who sets aside time every week to do needlepoint of birds they see in their yard as we do from someone who got rich and famous selling their own music. The show explores what sparked their interest in their creative outlet, what drives them to do it regardless of financial reward, and how they discipline and hone their skill to get better. Sally Windle - Arts Educator and Oil Painter
Episode 12
Tuesday, 17 January, 2023
If you discovered the importance of your relationship with art as someone coming of age in Lima, Ohio in the late 90’s and 2000’s, odds are good that you have Sally Windle to thank for that. Is that a bit too hyper specific of a demographic to entice you? Well how about a story about how Bill Gates is responsible for derailing the direction of a school system over a million dollar “buyout”? It’s pretty wild. But in all seriousness, my high school art teacher, Ms. Windle was kind enough to spend an afternoon over the recent holidays reminiscing through her journey as an arts educator and how that impacted the arts and arts education in a small Ohio city often written off as nothing more than uncultured, flyover state “MAGA country”.Want to come on the podcast?
