90. Let It Shine: Preaching The Truth To The Choir
Episode 2
Friday, 20 February, 2026
Alright everyone take your seats, take your seats now. Congregation, I come to you today with a message. A message so powerful you would believe that it came to me straight from a higher power. The message in question, is a thank you for joining us as we continue season 6 by discussing the good word of the 2012 musical DCOM, Let It Shine. Jake keeps wanting to call the main character Chris due to the actors previous work, Kate learns about some classic literature despite being getting a PHD in English, and both of them discuss how this movie portrays the church and why it isn’t as recognized as other DCOM musicals. They also give their input on a third Phineas and Ferb movie being in development, as well as the new Disney CEO. This episodes tangents include but are not limited to: Our determination to reach DCOM 100, Kates last minute delay to the recording session, Surviving the winter, Manifesting a Paul Hoen collab, Quinta Brunson’s Buzzfeed to Abbott Elementary pipeline, The extensive history of Radio Disneys Next Big Thing, and The continued lie of under 21 clubs. A disclaimer: We say it in the episode but we apologize for not being able to analyze this films portrayal of black culture as neither of us belong to that the group but we highly encourage any listeners who want to send us an analysis like that to our email if they want to.
