The Gnome of Gnewbury and the Cucumber Cat: A Christmas Story for Kids of All Ages
Episode 1
Monday, 12 December, 2022
‘Tis the season of peace, giving, and compassion -- so here at JAR Audio, we’ve stepped out of our regular podcasting routine to polish up a sweet old seasonal children’s story written by the late father of one of our esteemed producers, Reaon Ford. “My dad John wrote this back in the early 90s as a read-aloud Christmas story for kids, and I’m thrilled to be able to share it with a new generation. I’m so grateful to my talented colleagues at JAR for helping bring it to life. I know my dad would be humbled and honoured as well.” We encourage you to listen to this piece of alliterative holiday fiction with your own family, and hope it inspires your kids to be great listeners and even better friends. Merry Christmas from your friends at JAR Audio. Additional Quotes from Reaon: “My dad wrote this story back when he was a newspaper columnist in the 80s and 90s, and ever since he passed away in 2015, it’s been my dream to bring it to life and share it with a new generation of kids. It’s an incredible feeling to finally be able to do that, thanks to my amazing colleagues here at JAR. I know my father would be thrilled too, I really hope it helps bring some other kids and parents a little closer together during this festive season.” “My old man would have turned 84 years old on December 19th, and I’m so moved that my colleagues at JAR Audio were willing to pull together to help me bring the story he wrote to life. At first, I was worried about involving other people in such a personal project, but their passion for perfection made it painless. The experience has also made it abundantly clear where I acquired my affinity for alliteration.” (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?) “My dad would be so thrilled to know that a whole new generation of kids (and their parents) is now able to enjoy a story he first wrote decades ago.” CREDITS:Written by John FordSTARRING:Kristi Boulton as Gnorton the GnomeAaron Chapman as the Cucumber CatReaon Ford as the NarratorDirection and Sound Design: Patrick EmileMarketing Lead: Matthew StevensExecutive Producer: Chris O’KeefeSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
