Episode 45: How Did We Pull Off "The Heist" (Actually)? w/ This Ability Clinic
Episode 45
Wednesday, 17 April, 2024

Welcome to Filmmaking (Actually)! This episode is excerpted from a panel where Koura sat down for an interview discussing the latest Space Dream Productions film project, called The Heist -- which is available to watch right now for free on the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge YouTube channel -- with Dr. Stephanie Van on her YouTube channel This Ability Clinic. Koura Linda is the director and star of “The Heist,” a short film created for the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge of 2024, which tasked filmmakers with making a short film from start to finish in a WEEK. Koura shares her experience collaborating with a team of disabled filmmakers to create a buddy comedy where half the dialogue is in ASL and the entire film passes the Bechdel test. Dr. Van is an interventional pain management specialist, double board certified in pain management and physical medicine and rehabilitation, and an assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she promotes disability-conscious healthcare education for every body. If you have any questions or comments for Koura or any of our other guests, please reach out to us at filmmakingactually@gmail.com.
