Episode 187 - Restorative Practices: Doing Good and Giving Grace for the Greater Blessing
Episode 187
Saturday, 7 November, 2026

Conflict is inevitable in education. Different personalities, expectations, and experiences can create tension, even among people who share the same mission. But what happens when hurt feelings, frustration, and resentment begin to take over? And how do we find our way back to each other? In this episode of the Educators Among Us podcast, host Scott Barron, Chief Reinvention Officer with School Growth, reminds us that educators are restorers. They restore hope, confidence, trust, and opportunity in the lives of others. But that same commitment to restoration must extend to our relationships with colleagues, students, and families.  You'll learn how unresolved conflict can damage a healthy school culture, why fear and uncertainty make disagreements worse, and how understanding another person's struggles can change our perspective.        Takeaways — Educators Are Restorers. Beyond teaching, educators have the opportunity to restore hope, confidence, trust, and purpose in others. — Conflict Comes With Growth. Challenging people to move beyond their comfort zones naturally creates friction that must be handled wisely. — Don't Let Bitterness Take Root. Unresolved disagreements and lingering hurt feelings can undermine trust and damage a healthy school culture. — Everyone Has a Story. Understanding the struggles others carry can help replace frustration and hostility with compassion. — Fear Fuels Conflict. When fear, uncertainty, and doubt become embedded in a school culture, relationships and collaboration suffer. — Grace Disarms. Choosing kindness, forgiveness, and common ground can restore relationships that resentment threatens to destroy. — Restoration Requires Action. Rebuilding trust sometimes means swallowing our pride, making the first move, and choosing to move forward together.   Chapters 00:37 Introduction 01:51 We are Restorers 05:13 Inevitable Conflict 09:15 Harmful Effects 11:34 Resilience has Rewards 14:29 Weekly Encouragement 16:33 Coaching Question      —-----------------------------   Educators Fellowship is a non-profit organization that encourages educators in their calling and in their faith.  www.educatorsamonguspodcast.com www.educatorsamongus.com https://www.edfellowship.org/   Sign up for weekly encouragement messages here:  htt Buy the book, The Book on Communication: The Laws of the Grapevine for Trust, Resilience and Success  here: Visit the website The Book on Communication here: Buy the book, Love'em and Lead'em, here:     https://www.linkedin.com/in/scottebarron/ https://www.facebook.com/SchoolGrowth/ https://twitter.com/schoolgrowth https://www.linkedin.com/company/school-growth
