The National Theatre is the largest theatre-producing complex in the world. It stages over 20 productions a year to audiences of more than 600,000 people. Home to a vast range of activity, both on and offstage, we reach people around the world in many ways, including extensive education and outreach programmes, a free summer theatre festival, touring, live cinema broadcasts and rich digital resources. Since its inception in 1963, the National Theatre has staged well over 700 productions and developed a rich archive of creative projects and inspiring resources. This collection features video about the three very different theatres in the building and what it takes to run them. The video is formatted for iPad/Mac/PC. In order to increase access to the National Theatre for those who are blind or visually impaired, the Access Department employs freelance Audio Describers for each production to describe what is happening onstage during live performances.
