Matt also talks about receiving a collect call from his mom while she was in jail during his elementary school years, recounts the infamous story of Rene kicking in a sheriff’s door after discovering she’d been cheated on, and losing her when he was just 14 years old. Matt also opens up about the woman who truly became his mom, Sheryl, how she changed his life, and the devastating loss of her to a sudden death years later. We discuss his lifelong love of horses and barrel racing, growing up in a deeply religious environment, and how those influences led him to discover and embrace his sexuality much later in life.
