His journey began when he made the decision to live off-grid and study natural systems in northern California and the Pacific Northwest. It was during that time in northern California that he took the permaculture design course with the founder Bill Mollison.When he became a father, he moved closer to modern amenities and witnessed the harmful effects of chemical lawn care, fertilizers, and pesticides on the children in his community. This experience inspired him to explore the connection between soil and human health. After years of research and observation, James has concluded that some of the healthiest people in the world were those living on the most fertile soils. In 2018, James was given the opportunity to build one of the world's largest regenerative cannabis operations, Edun.co. This is where he developed his Beyond Organic Sustainable Soil (B.O.S.S.) system to create a safe and healthy environment for the cultivation of medical cannabis.
