I get asked about fish oil all the time. And I understand why. One study says it saves lives. Another says it does nothing. Some people swear by it. Others call it useless. So in this episode, I wanted to slow everything down and ask a simpler, more honest question: do you actually need fish oil—and if you do, how much makes sense for you?I walk through the trial that made omega-3s famous again, the one that showed real cardiovascular benefit with a high-dose, EPA-only prescription product—and then explain why other large trials, using different formulations, showed no benefit at all. This is where most of the confusion lives, and it turns out the details really matter.We break down what omega-3s actually are (and why “fish oil” isn’t one thing), the differences between ALA, EPA, and DHA, and what they really do inside the body.
