SWIFT is the current global standard for sending remittances, but it’s an outdated messaging system that doesn’t include settlement. Ripple provides a near instant money settlement system for financial institutions that removes the need for those institutions to prefund in destination countries. That alone is a billion-dollar problem. XRP truly is a revolutionary digital asset as it represents the opportunity to own a piece of the internet of value. You may have invested into dot com companies from 1995-2001, buying shares in companies like Amazon and Ebay, but you didn’t have an opportunity to buy into the internet protocols themselves, whereas with XRP you can buy into it, owning a fraction of this value transfer protocol that other companies will build systems and applications on top of. This video essay is a fair assessment of Ripple and the digital asset XRP. Let it be known that Ripple is a software company that utilises XRP, the open source distributed ledger technology.
