11 Todd Huth. Always Exploring
Episode 11
Saturday, 11 September, 2021
From the Shelter-in-place studio of Leslie Jackson, welcome to the Leslie show. Todd Huth is the founding guitarist for rock outfits Primus & Porch. He’s always chasing his muse, always innovating and exploring the guitar as a tool for creative expression. It’s so fun to talk to him about music because he’s low-key in spite of his tremendous experience in the hotbed of funk metal hardcore & rock in the mid-1980s. It was really quite a time to be coming of nightclub age in the bay area music scene in the san Francisco Bay Area, and Todd Huth was central to it. It’s great to hear that he’s still making music with some of the same players who were also at the epicenter of what was like a renaissance. In this interview we talk about early years of Primus, and about family life and his advice for kids, and some practice techniques. We even discuss what time signature dogs drink water in. There is a beautiful acoustic performance of a song Todd wrote called Wildflower. Show notes below will point you to Todd’s website. He has a few great instructional videos so you too can play “John the Fisherman.” This show was recorded in Berkeley and Oakland California in May, 2021. website: ToddHuth.com Porch is on band camp
