In this very rough first episode of the Happy Trails Podcast, hosts Tom Glover and Joel Marek are interviewed by buddy Jonathan Strom about a recent Montana backcountry archery elk hunt. Subjects include obsessive preparation, late night drive to trailhead, group dynamics, pre-season scouting trip, how to not get a tag, benefits of pack horses, hunting the hard way, risks of hunting far away from cell service, intense moments on the trail, bugling bulls, dangerous wildlife, brutal heat and frigid snow, snacks on snacks, how amazing hot showers are, and the draw of life in the backcountry. Please excuse the terrible and uneven sound quality, this was recorded straight into a computer and we have no idea what we are doing. We will get better mics eventually.
