Coach Shoemaker reflects on accepting his first head coaching position in February 2025 and what it means to lead one of Maryland's premier football programs. He shares how he grew up admiring the Urbana football dynasty, watching the Hawks as a 10-year-old alongside his father, Roy, who was also a football coach, and why Urbana always stood out as a place he hoped to coach someday. Shoemaker also discusses his playing career as a quarterback and safety at Boonsboro High School before continuing as a safety at Shepherd University. He looks back on his first season leading the Hawks, which featured a strong playoff run, including a regional championship before Urbana's season ended in the state quarterfinals.
