UFCW's successful negotiations on behalf of grocery workers and their families
Episode 1
Thursday, 7 November, 2019

This is the first episode of a new podcast show, "Love's Labor Won", focusing on unions, working people and their families, and labor's past and present issues, causes, challenge, and achievements.  This first episode is a discussion with United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1428 President Mark Ramos, recorded after the recent conclusion of successful negotiations benefiting grocery workers and their families and communities -- negotiations which averted what might well have been a very costly strike.   But a couple of months earlier, while the negotiations were still underway, Mark was recorded as part of a different podcast show ("Hole in the Air'), and he talked about what they were then facing.  That recording was never made public, because just as it was about to be posted, the settlement was reached, but it is here appended to the end of this episode.  So this episode starts with Mark telling us what happened, and then later on we hear the earlier report, recorded in the heat of things.
