#177: The 2024 Trump Assassination Attempts w/ Ken Silva
Episode 177
Wednesday, 14 October, 2026
In this episode of Divulgence, investigative journalist and author Ken Silva joins us for a fascinating examination of the two 2024 assassination attempts against Donald Trump, the extraordinary security failures surrounding both incidents, and the troubling questions that remain unanswered.Ken is the author of The Trump Assassination Plots: What the Investigations Missed and Why It Matters, a book built on nearly two years of research, government records, congressional testimony, firsthand accounts, and investigative reporting. We begin with the July 13, 2024, shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire during a Trump campaign rally. Ken walks us through a detailed reconstruction of the shooting, including his findings about a local police officer who returned fire before the Secret Service sniper, the approximately 15-second delay in the sniper's response, and apparent contradictions between the sniper's congressional testimony and his original notes. We also examine the bizarre failures of the Secret Service's drone detection equipment, Crooks' activities before the shooting, the controversial handling and cremation of his remains, and the enormous volume of investigative records that have yet to be released. Who was Thomas Crooks, what motivated him, and how much do investigators really know about his activities leading up to the attack? The conversation then turns to the second assassination attempt, involving Ryan Routh at Trump's Florida golf course in September 2024. Ken details Routh's unusual criminal history, his activities recruiting foreign fighters for Ukraine, his reported contacts with international law enforcement and intelligence agencies, and allegations involving human smuggling.Perhaps most intriguing is the timing of Routh's arrival at the golf course, which closely coincided with a last-minute decision by Trump to play golf. Was it simply an extraordinary coincidence, or does the timeline warrant further investigation?Throughout the discussion, we explore the difficult distinction between incompetence, institutional negligence, and the possibility of something more deliberate. We also discuss the dangers of misinformation, the limitations of official investigations, and why separating documented evidence from speculation is essential when examining events of this magnitude. Two assassination attempts. Two deeply troubling security failures. And an extraordinary number of unanswered questions.Join us for an investigative conversation with Ken Silva about what happened, what the available evidence tells us, and what the public still deserves to know.PLEASE support the show and simply subscribe to the Divulgence channel on YouTube (Superchats and other tip options now available), Rumble (tip jar now available), Spotify and/or wherever you get your podcasts.
