Jiggle n JuiceAuthor: Jiggle n Juice
Jiggle n Juice is a collective formed by two artists who happen to be best friends, Shae Myles and Georgia Tooke. They also happen to live 4,405 miles apart. The pair met in 2019 at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen, Scotland, where Shae was studying and Georgia undertook her exchange semester. Jiggle n Juice is a platform dedicated to engaging in discursive and critical conversation, and showcasing creativity. We aim to foster a support system for creatives by producing materials that help to bridge the gap from art school to professional practice. Chewing Gum E8 | Laura Gildner
Episode 8
Monday, 22 July, 2024
IT’S THE SEASON FINALE!!! We have saved the one and only Laura Gildner for the final episode of ‘chewing gum’ season one!! Laura is not only one of my favourite artists, but one of my favourite people. I have been obsessed with her work and the way she tells stories all the way from when I started my undergrad so many years ago. If you know her, you love her and if you don’t know her… well you are in for such a treat!!! THIS EP'S CHEWY TOPICS: how value is placed on objects through historical contexts, performance, collaboration, psychic mediums, phallic pottery, a love story involving Patrick Swayze’s tooth ABOUT THE ARTIST: Laura Gildner is an intermedia artist who collaborates with strangers, neighbours, would-be celebrities, friends, performers, and various makeshift communities in the creation of her works. Her productions reflect on social, historical, and pop cultural phenomena through creative re-imaginings and absurdist commentaries while centralizing the magic of shared experience. Her most recent project, Lovechild, involved making art with Patrick Swayze's ghost via a biotechnology lab, psychic medium, and dental implants.
