The Church as the Eschatological People of God (Part Three: From Moses to Joshua)
Sunday, 18 October, 2026
(AI Generated Summary) This sermon traces the biblical motif of God's people from the Old Testament covenants to the New Testament church, emphasizing that belonging to God is not determined by ethnicity or ancestry but by grace and faith in Jesus Christ. The exposition highlights the failure of human mediators like Moses, Joshua, and the judges to maintain a lasting relationship with a holy God due to their own sin and mortality, resulting in a cycle of rebellion and judgment. In contrast, Christ is presented as the eternal High Priest who secures an eternal redemption through His once-for-all sacrifice, thereby fulfilling the covenant promises that the law could not. The message concludes with the pastoral assurance that believers, as a chosen race and holy nation, are kept by God's power for an imperishable inheritance, calling them to live in obedient response to this grace.
