History Re-Examined with Peyton Vaillancourt

History Re-Examined with Peyton Vaillancourt

For the love of history.

Author: Peyton Vaillancourt

This is a show that tries to shed light on interesting topics in history that have been lost to the dry pages of academic books. All too often I hear people who rag on historians and their subject for being too boring and too hard to understand. I always find this quite sad because it truly doesn't have to be this way. All too often people forget that history is about us and who we once were. People had quirks and lives; they didn't live as statistics and flat characters. People were people. People were human. Perhaps by breathing life and humanity back into these pages, history can be fun and approachable for all.

Wednesday, 5 August, 2015

Photo Credit: pbs.orgApril 27th, 1865The Civil War is over but there will be still more American deaths on this day in history. The SS Sultana sinks to the bottom of the Mississippi River and takes the lives of thousands of Union soldiers. Haven't heard of the incident? Would you believe that it was worse than the Titanic? Join me as I re-examine the event, explore its origins and speculate why it has been lost to the pages of history. The sources I used for this episode can be found here: [...]
